Media Release : SIFE National Exposition 2010

KUALA LUMPUR, 13 July – Fifteen teams representing Malaysian Institutes of Higher Learning competed at the SIFE National Exposition 2010 which was held from 12-13 July 2010 at Putra World Trade Center (PWTC), Kuala Lumpur. The Awards will be presented to winners by YB Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of International Trade and Industry. The SIFE Malaysia National Exposition Champion team will be representing Malaysia to the SIFE World Cup 2010 competition in Los Angeles, USA from 12-13 October 2010.

This event, which is in its 9 th year, provides the platform for undergraduates to showcase their outreach projects. These projects will be evaluated by corporate leaders from local and international corporations including CIMB Group, UEM Group, ASTRO, Telekom Malaysia, GE Int. Inc., Boston Consulting Group, and Khazanah Nasional Bhd.

Students In Free Enterprise or SIFE is a global institution that is active in more than 1,500 colleges and universities over 40 countries. The objective of SIFE is to expose students on the importance of understanding the basic economic, financial and investment management, and business ethics in order to generate future successful business entrepreneurs.

SIFE students work as a team under the mentorship of faculty advisors, applying their classroom experiences to develop and implement educational outreach programmes that focus on helping aspiring entrepreneurs, struggling business owners, low-income families as well as improving the quality of life and standard of living of people in need.

Malaysia will be hosting the Student In Free Enterprise (SIFE) World Cup 2011 from 3-5 October 2011 in Kuala Lumpur. SIFE World Cup 2011 is expected to attract 2,500 participants comprising 40 global SIFE teams, academics and Fortune 500 corporate leaders.
